Google Street View and Me

This week Google announced a new perspective for Street View that allows users to see the photographs captured by Google's self-driving cars over the past seven years. The results are some amazing transformations here in Washington, DC.

The annoucement also reminded me of my first and only interaction with Google's Street View cars. It was October in Chicago and I was walking near Water Place after picking up my brand new iPhone 4s (it was launch day). I was standing at the corner and I saw a strange, brightly-colored car making it's way down Pearson and turning onto Michigan Ave. I quickly realized that it was Street View and turned my head. The car passed and I carried on with my day. I was curious what happened that day and now I can proudly display the result:

A lovely photograph of the back of my head. No robot car is gonna steal my soul.
